Beeline Referral Stories
New real referral story from Beeline Health, with a patient who suffered from a hidden access issue due to bad data:
A 66yo patient was referred to a surgeon to remove a cancerous breast tumor. The prior auth was approved, and the surgery center was in-network.
Only to find out the surgeon no longer practiced there.
A new prior auth had to be submitted, but there was no appropriate in-network alternative. A Letter of Agreement was required, and the next approval came 1.5 months later. The consultation with the surgeon came 3 months later.
For this patient, it’s 3 months of waiting at one of the most vulnerable times of their life, of losing trust in their insurance with a condition that isn’t standing still.
The problem was an access gap that the relevant stakeholders were unaware of. A provider who had left a facility, and a database that hadn’t caught up.
Had that information been current, the network team would’ve known a gap in surgical coverage needs to be filled. They could’ve brought a new surgeon into the network. The referral would’ve been correct from day one. No LOA. No wasted time. No avoidable cost.
Don’t suffer the consequences of bad data. Prevent them.
