Missing specialist data leads to preventable delays.
By Alex Colavin, CEO of Beeline Health
We recently helped a patient, but it wasn’t good enough.
It started with a GI referral for someone with chest pain, nausea, and vomiting. The referring office picked a specialty group based on proximity. We knew the approved group well: appointments were 3+ months out.
Easy fix. We found an in-network GI with earlier availability just 5 miles further. We recommended rerouting the referral and got the patient scheduled for the following week.
But re-running prior auth added 4 days. That delay is significant when someone is in pain.
This isn’t a one-off. From our data, 29% of referrals we received run into preventable issues that add friction and delay care. Whether or not it’s fair, patients blame their primary care doctor and plan when referrals get botched.
We’re working hard to surface data from Beeline Health to plans and providers so the right specialist gets chosen the first time, every time.
