When bad data turns a routine referral into anything but routine.
Beeline Referral Stories
Here’s a new story from the front lines of Beeline’s referral work, where a routine referral became anything but routine due to bad data.
A 67yo patient was referred to a dermatologist for a recurring rash, and the prior auth was approved. Problem: that location doesn’t see patients. It’s a lab that only processes samples.
The referral had to be re-routed, and the appointment was scheduled over five weeks after the referral was first requested.
No one made a clinical error here. The PCP identified the condition correctly. The requested specialist is real and in-network. The insurer approved the request.
But the directory listed a location that can’t actually treat patients, with no mention of it. And because of that, a patient with a painful, recurring skin condition waited weeks longer than necessary.
With accurate provider data, this referral goes to the right location on day one. No re-routing. No delays. No eroded trust.
